Bracken House Luxury Bed & Breakfast North Devon
Bracken House, formerly a Victorian Rectory, has four luxury en-suite bedrooms and is situated on the edge of the popular North Devon village of Bratton Fleming. It is within easy driving distance of the spectacular coast, Exmoor and many other local attractions, including National Trust properties, gardens at RHS Rosemoor, Castle Hill, Marwood and Tapeley Park.
We are very proud to have just been awarded by the AA a FIVE STAR RATING (March 2016) for our B&B as well as receiving an Award of Excellence for 2015 from Booking.com with an average review score of 9.6/10 for our four en-suite Bed and Breakfast rooms. We are so thrilled about this. We have stunning views over the gardens and surrounding countryside and down to the sea at Hartland Point.
The drawing room, with its Jetmaster open fire, is available for guests to relax in and also has lovely views over the garden and towards Hartland through the large bay window and the dining room/breakfast room has a wood burner which is lit in those cooler mornings.
Quality en-suite rooms
We have four double ensuite rooms, one of which can be made up as a twin if required, for bed and breakfast available throughout the year. One of the doubles is on the ground floor and has a bathroom and is also suitable for wheelchair use. Ramps are also available into the house if needed.
Our new Four Poster bedroom or honeymoon suite with its views to the front and side of the house and a bathroom with freestanding bath and separate shower room looks fabulous and many guests have promised to come back and stay in this room again. The bed is a super king and you can lie in bed and look out of the window and see Hartland Point in the distance, weather permitting of course! Please come and spoil yourself in this room!
WE ARE NOW AN APPROVED SMALL WEDDING VENUE for small exclusive weddings for up to 20 people only. We have three locations within the house which are Licenced for the ceremony. Please call us to discuss your wedding or Civil Partnership on 01598 711810 or email us for further information at email@example.com. Bracken House is a credit to tourism in the area – Quality in Tourism inspector 2012
We have named the rooms after characters in P G Wodehouse’s novels as his uncle was Rector here from 1875 to 1913 and it is known that he stayed in this house. It is thought that he was inspired to create some of the formidable young women in his books by basing them on his cousin who went on to become Mistress of Girton College. She was, by all accounts, extremely strong willed herself. Perhaps he also dreamt up the characters of Jeeves, Wooster and Anatole whilst he stayed here?
